Enable MFA with Google Authenticator
In this tutorial, we will enable Multifactor Authentification for your first AWS Root Account.
This will take you no longer than 5 minutes and will be absolutely crucial for setting up a secure AWS Account.
What you need:
Click on Services on top and select IAM
Select “Active MFA” on your root account.
Select “Virtual MFA device”.
In this step please go into Google Authentications app on your mobile.
Click on red cross on the left lower side.
Scan the QR code on your monitor and enter two following Codes from your app. You fill in the first code and wait for the code to expire and then fill in the second code.
Activate MFA and next time when you log into the console, AWS will ask you to enter a new code from your Google Authenticator App.
You have successfully set up your AWS Account for MFA.
